Education & more

Sunday School--Sunday school begins at 9:30 am each Sunday from the Sunday following Labor Day in September through the Sunday before Memorial Day in May.  We are lucky to have talented and dedicated Sunday School teachers for our children.

Bible Study--Bible Study has moved from Thursday morning to Wednesday evening at 5:45 pm (or 6 pm...) at Agnes R.'s apartment.  This seems to be working well and allowing more people to attend.  (Why are two times listed?  When our choir is rehearsing, Bible Study begins at 5:45 pm.  If choir practice does NOT follow the study session, Bible Study begins at 6 pm.)
The Book of Revelation will be the focus for the coming weeks.
     February 1 - Revelation 21:1-27
     February 8 - Revelation 22:1-21
     February 15 - 1 Corinthians 1:1-17
February 22 - No Bible Study (Ash Wednesday services)
     February 29 - 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

Prayer Circle--In February 1984, we  nervously began a Prayer Circle.  This has become an extremely enriching aspect of OPC for all involved.  Prayer requests are received from anyone--including those who are part of our church family and those who are not, those who wish to be named and those who prefer to remain nameless.  Originally, prayer requests were spread through the prayer circle with telephone calls, but now the requests are sent through email, with phone calls to those who prefer phone contact.  Please contact Pastor Steve if you have prayer requests.  Jan C. will serve as back-up.

Kirkmont Summer Camp
We are very fortunate to have a wonderful church camp available and would encourage everyone, especially the teens and children, to look at the summer camp activities that are offered. It’s a great way to make new friends, enjoy nature, and deepen your relationship with God. Generous scholarships have been available thanks to the Sewell Scholarship fund and members of the congregation.  During the summer of 2011 we were able to pay a big portion of the cost of camp for those who applied for scholarships.  Campers were asked to pay a $50 deposit only.
If you would like a "scholarship" to help cover the expenses of camp this summer, you will need to complete a short and simple scholarship application.  You can get an application from Pastor Steve or download an application.  Click here for a Microsoft Word version or click here for an Acrobat Reader (.pdf) version.  Expect the next application deadline to be in early May 2012.
Don't forget, older students are welcome as counselors!
Check out Kirkmont's website http://www.kirkmontcenter.com/ for more information or click here for a camp schedule.

Confirmation Class
Our most recent confirmation class just began as of September 2011.  This class is composed of students that are primarily junior high age.

If you are interested in joining the church as well, please contact Pastor Steve Elderbrock at 419-523-3694.
