Habitat for Humanity

It's Official!!!--

Habitat for Humanity International has given official affiliate status to Putnam County Habitat for Humanity as of March 1, 2009.  Groundbreaking for the first home took place on March 1, 2010, and the home was dedicated on October 4, 2010.  The home is located at 641 South Oak Street in Ottawa.

The second home was dedicated on August 18, 2011.  It is located on Vine Street in Leipsic.

Our third home actually had the foundation poured on that same date.  It was dedicated just before Thanksgiving, 2011--a NEW home for the holidays!

In March 2012 we will break ground for our fourth home.  This one will be constructed in Continental, Ohio.

The email address is pcohhabitat@putnamohhabitat.org.  The phone number is 419-523-9621.  The website is http://www.putnamohhabitat.org.  You can also visit us on Facebook at Putnam (Ohio) Habitat for Humanity.

Requests for volunteers are generally sent out by email as well as posted on the website.  For the first home, general volunteers were usually scheduled on Saturdays,  Volunteers with special skills would often work on weekdays to prepare for the next Saturday's crew of volunteers.

If you would like to be involved with this organization, please email or call!

The local Habitat for Humanity affiliate was founded after the Blanchard River Flood of August 2007 which made local residents very aware of the need for decent housing for many families in substandard living situations.

The Board of Directors for the local affiliate meets each month, usually on the first Thursday, at 7 pm at the church.  All are welcome to attend.

The first Habitat home in Putnam County is under construction at 641 South Oak Street in Ottawa,   The second home will be built on Vine Street in Leipsic
