May 2009 Plant Share

Andee shares her expertise with a gardener in May, 2009.  Members of the church brought in seedlings and cuttings so that others could enjoy the "fruits' of their labors as well.  (Couldn't resist that one...)  In addition to Andee, Bob and Vera were also on hand to help with questions.

In addition to giving away plants, Andee also organized a raffle drawing for the planters-to-be.

Tawa Town Gents vs. Ohio Village Muffins

The Ohio Village Muffins are shown in the front row, with the Tawa Town Gents (including our own Pastor Steve and Eric S.) in the back row.  The Muffins are sponsored by the Ohio Historical Society and they bring the rules and lore of 1860s baseball with them to every location they visit.  They have strikers rather than batters, they don't have foul balls, and they don't use gloves for catching.  Those line drives really sting--whether they've bounced once or not.  (Yes, a ball that bounces once and is caught was an out in those days.)

You can see some of the fans in the pictures on our home page.

Pastor Steve seems to be checking the base to see if he really did make it there safely!

Mighty Casey at the Bat

Eric (aka Big Kahuna) prepares for a powerful swing.  He was successful and Pastor Steve became his pinch runner.

Your webgeezer missed this activity but it sure looks intriguing.  Can Janice stay in the lines with Jan's guidance?  (Note:  more information would be greatly appreciated!)

Afghan Raffle Drawing

After the worship service, new 50-year group member Corby drew the winning ticket for an afghan.  The yarn for the afghan had been donated to our rummage sale in June.  Rather than sell the yarn for less than a dollar, OPW President Jane called a local knitter to give her the yarn.  The knitter, in turn, gave the yarn back in the form of an afghan--beautifully done!  The raffle raised $72 for OPW>

After the drawing, Agnes holds the afghan.  Her grand-daughter-in-law Deb was the lucky winner.  Agnes promised she would give it to Deb.  (Has anyone checked on Agnes???)
